Which tiles do I purchase to achieve an alternating grain orientation? |
You can view an illustration that assists in explaining how to achieve the effect by clicking here. A photo showing which tiles are horiztonal and which are vertical is provided here. Square tiles with the same brushed material finish (e.g., brushed stainless, brushed copper, etc.) are used to achieve the alternating grain orientation (e.g., 4" x 4", 4 1/4 x 4 1/4", 6" x 6", etc.). They are installed with each adjacent tile being turned 90 degrees so that the grain creates a checkerboard effect. |
|
What is the difference between
tiles that contain a horizontal grain line and those that contain
a vertical grain line? |
You can view an illustration of the difference by clicking here. Tiles that contain a horizontal grain have a grain
that is parallel to the long axis of the tile. Tiles with a vertical
grain have a grain that is parallel to the short axis of the tile.
You can change the grain orientation on our
square tiles by simply rotating the tiles 90 degrees (see next question). |
|
Are your tiles
solid metal? |
Yes, our stainless steel tiles are manufactured
from 22 gauge (.032”) stainless steel with a #4 polish (brushed
